Do you think this is a healthy Diet?

Do you think this is a healthy Diet?

A cup of Granola cereal and bananna on side for breakfast and cup of whole Milk. Lunch be a nice veggie-fruit salad. I usually do two cups of spinich, 1 cup of cucumbers, 1 cup of bell peppers and 1/4 cup of almonds in salad for lunch. Dinner 1 peice of oven baked boneless bbq chicken and 1 red patato and 1 cup of green beans. Thats my menu for the day. Is that a healthy diet? I run up and down my hallway 300 times every day and every other day 3 sets of crunches and leg raises too.

It sounds like you are on the right track….lean protein and fresh fruits and vegetables without much processed foods. Just be sure that you vary the veggies so you get many different kinds of them and that you are getting enough calories (depends on how tall you are and how active.)
Do you think this is a healthy Diet?

The best researched diet in the world that is known for it’s health benefits is the Mediterranean Diet. It focuses on fresh fruits and vegetables, fish, healthy fats like olives and omega 3′s as well as some whole grains. For more information on the Mediterranean Diet see http://www.antiaginganswers.net/anti-aging-diet.html. There is also a link on the referenced page to recent studies on the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet. Also, you may want to add some green smoothies or juicing for additional greens in your diet.

What is a healthy food diet for my guinea pig?(:?

I just adopted a guinea pig, so far I am sticking with the name Romeo!

Anyways, I need a ‘special diet’ like a routine..

So a Daily Routine ;D Thanks

Always have a full supply of fresh hay no matter what! Give 3 servings of fresh veggies and leafy greens. GIve a fruit once or twice a week.
Veggies:
Alfalfa, radish & clover sprouts
Basil
Beet greens (tops)
Bok choy
Broccoli (mostly leaves/stems)- 1 FLORET & STEM
Brussels Sprouts – 1 Sprout
Carrot – 1 to 2 baby carrots or equivalent
Carrot tops
Celery – 2 INCHES, cut in 1 inch pieces
Chard (red or green)* – 1 LEAF
Cilantro – 6 – 8 STEMS AND LEAVES

Clover – 10
Collard greens- 1 LEAF
Cucumber – 1 SLICE
Dandelion greens and flowers (no pesticides)- 6 LARGE OR 10 SMALL
Endive

Change the water everyday. Give about 1/8 cup of pellets.

Hope this helps!

Gratitude

February 7th, 2012

Shakespeare said:
I always feel happy, You know why?
Because I don’t expect anything from anyone,
Expectations always hurt..
Life is short.. So love your life.. Be happy..
And Keep smiling.. Just Live for yourself and
Before you speak, Listen
Before you write, Think
Before you spend, Earn
Before you pray, Forgive
Before you hurt, Feel
Before you hate, Love
Before you quit, Try
Before you die, Live……

What are some essential vegetarian food items?

January 17th, 2012

I just became a vegetarian two weeks ago and my mom never makes vegetarian-only meals except for pasta, so basically I have been eating steamed vegetables for dinner every night. We never eat beans or tofu, and the vegetables are usually low nutrition like red peppers and cauliflower. I’m 16 so i’m going to the store today to see if I can buy some easy and nutritious vegetarian meals. Any ideas? I’m tired of eating burrito’s and stir-frys.

Hello Locomotive,

Welcome to the vegetarian/ vegan club.

I was in the same situation when I became a vegetarian. My parents didn’t know what to do, and no one was willing to help. I ate toast and spaghetti and salads forever. I was vegetarian for a long time then tried vegan foods.

Luckily, you have many options at your fingertips.

Check out your local library for vegetarian and vegan cookbooks. Or, see if your library can borrow it from another library system for you.

Purchase some cookbooks online. Check out www.Amazon.com and use their option to preview a book online to see what recipes are there. When I started as a vegetarian, I didn’t know what most of the ingredients were so I skipped out on many cookbooks. There are some better ones out there these days.
I am considering buying PETA’s Vegan College Cookbook: 275 Easy, Cheap, and Delicious Recipes to Keep You Vegan at School. It is cheap on Amazon.com and looks basic but I haven’t been able to lookk through it myself yet.

Also, if you contact animal rights groups at their websites like www.PETA.org, some will send you out a free vegetarian starter kit with recipes.

or do searches for websites – http://www.chooseveg.com/vegan-recipes.asp

Find a local restaurant to try foods www.vegguide.org

Sign up for Meatout Monday recipes to be delivered to your email box weekly http://www.meatoutmondays.org/index.php.

Using vegetables or some vegetarian/ vegan products, these are some common foods to try to make:
Veggie pizza, soups, tacos, spaghetti, pastas, potato salad, lasagna, sloppy joes, pancakes, poor man’s chocolate cake (simply wonderful and vegan), cereals and rice/ soy milk, mashed potatoes, hash browns, french fries, veggie burgers/ bacon/ chicken/ meats, Tofu Supreme sour cream (use with onion soup to make a fantastic dip), curried rice and veggies, vegetarian cookies, toast with veg. margarine, popcorn, chips and salsa, vegan vanilla yogurt that you add bananas and strawberries or some fruit to, baked squash, zucchini or banana bread with egg replacer, plain fruits (grapefruit, apples, oranges, etc.)

If I had more time, I could write so many more…

The world is yours, Locomotive.

Do a search for vegetarian or vegan recipes for whatever your past favorites were. There will be an option for it that you can now eat. You won’t have to feel deprived, and you will help your family expand their options.

Thanks for choosing the veggie option. You are doing the world and animals a favor.

compare and contrast essay on healthy v. dangerous weight loss?

January 17th, 2012

I am writing a compare and contrast research essay on healthy weight loss v. dangerous weight loss, my dangerous weight loss is bulimia. i need help wiritng and introduction!

Oka i know alot about this, so ima help you.

First of, for a healthy weight loss there are 2 key ingrediances:

Excersie
Food

Excersize is mostly cardio, then weigth and such(although cardio is DEFINTLY the way to go!), general weigth oss, you train whole body, and you will get in better shape.

Of food, eat fruits in moderate amounts, MODERATE AMOUNTS!(they are monocarbon-"chains"(dont know english word), or wel the sugar in them is, thats why only moderate amount are good, and thats why sugar is diggested fast. Oh and the reason for moderate xD, is that to diggest the sugar, you gotta diggest the WHOLE fruit.

Vegetiable for vitamins, minerals and such
meat for proteine

Dangerous weight loss:

Diet, can change your metabolism if you are in puberty, so that your body adjusts itself to the amount of energy you gain. This means that you will gain a small weight loss, but as soon as you stop dieting, and eat like you normally do, you will gain your normal weight and MORE, because your body uses the energy more efficient. Beside that your body wont develop right, due to low nutrious value.

Btw bread and breafast package food isen’t healthy, empthy calories ALL of it!!

Bulimia isen’t healthy as for alot of the same reasons as above, and beside it puts a HUGE preassure on the body, when you vomit THAT much. Beside that the acids aren’t good for the throat and teeth either.

How do you actually stay on a healthy food diet and not give into binge eating?

January 17th, 2012

Everytime I try to eat healthy I crave loads of fat foods and drinks and eventually just give in can I stop this or is there a certain way i can stop it

Deprive yourself of the empty calories that are found in sugary drinks, and make a batch of iced green tea with honey or something and keep it in your fridge, and whenever you crave a sugary drink, drink some of that! Don’t put cream and sugar in your coffee or tea, because that can add a lot of fat- for drin sweetening, try honey.

Now when it comes to food, don’t remove everything. If you love ice cream, buy a tub of fat free frozen yogurt in your favorite flavor and eat that instead, so that you get what you want for less the calories. Or, you can eat the same thing, just eat a much smaller portion, like a tiny little scoop of ice cream instead of a whole sundae.

When you go out, either eat before you go, or pack your own food so that you aren’t tempted to spend extra money on unhealthy foods and drinks. Or, only bring enough money to pay for what you need so you aren’t tempted to buy food as well.

Also, find ways to spice up your healthy foods. You can try making healthy things from different cuisines, like try some spicy Indian food (spicy food raises your metabolism!) or Malaysian food or something interesting, so that you aren’t stuck eating salads all the time.

After a while it gets easier. You just have to get through the first few weeks and soon your cravings will become a thing of the past. Good luck!
